Let's get one more hike in before the end of the year! Join the Rock Church Hiking ministry family for a post-Christmas hike on Saturday, Dec. 29. This is a mostly flat hike which is great for all fitness levels. At the halfway mark, there is a stream, a small waterfall and a rocky area where we can do a short devo.

Join us for coffee at the Mission Valley Starbucks at 7:15 a.m. We'll carpool from there at 7:45 a.m. to the trailhead.

There is a $3 fee to park in the lot at this hike. Please bring exactly $3 cash since there may be no one to issue change. If you do not pay the $3, you may receive a ticket so don't forget!  You may want to consider carpooling with others. There will be a carpool from Starbucks Mission Valley. It takes about 30 minutes to get to the trailhead.
 
Meet at Trailhead at 8:30 a.m.
Hike starts at 8:45 a.m.
Carpool meets at 7:15 a.m.
Carpool Leaves at 7:45 a.m.
Difficulty: Easy to Moderate (flat terrain) great for all fitness levels!
Highlight: Colorful vegetation, small waterfall in a rocky area
Distance: 6.8 miles (round trip) but you do not have to go the entire way
Elevation Gain/Loss: 140 feet
Hiking Time: approximately 3 hours
Suitable for dogs (on leash) and children
Weather: Hike will be cancelled if it rains
 
What to Bring:
 -Good running/hiking shoes
 -Comfortable clothing (layers)
- Hat or visor
 -Sunscreen/Sunglasses
 -Water (2 liters)
 -Cellphone
 -Snacks

Directions:
From I-15, exit at Scripps Poway Parkway/Mercy Road. Southbound traffic turns right; northbound traffic turns left and crosses under the freeway. Mercy Road ends at the parking lot entrance for Los Penasquitos Canyon Preserve.
