Requirements and Commitments:
- Prerequisite Trainings: Complete a minimum of 26 hours of Rock Chaplaincy training to include:
- Basic Community Chaplaincy (13 hours) – REQUIRED plus either:
Advanced Chaplaincy-13 hours) and/or
Spiritual & Psychological First Aid (13 hours)
Supplemental Recommended Ongoing Trainings:
- Assisting Individuals in Crisis (Peer Support)
- Group Crisis Intervention
- Grief Following Trauma
- Emotional & Spiritual Care in Disasters
- LIFE Class Completion: All Rock Church Chaplain team members need to complete the LIFE Class for church membership and ministry engagement. You will need to complete the Background Check and Ready to Serve form. https://www.sdrock.com/serve
- Small Group Involvement: All chaplains are required to be actively involved in a small group church community.
- Christian Lifestyle: Rock Chaplains commit to live within the Biblical standards of character, doctrine, ethics, and morality as outlined for Christian leadership in 1 Timothy 3 and Titus 1. This includes Biblical integrity in the use of social media.
- Monthly Hours of Service: Rock Chaplains commit to serve a minimum of 8 hours per month in chaplaincy service, ongoing education, and/or crisis intervention services.
- Ongoing Chaplaincy and/or Crisis Intervention Training: Rock Chaplains are encouraged to continue to grow in their education for chaplaincy and crisis intervention ministry.
- Rock Community Chaplaincy Team Meetings: Rock Chaplains commit to attending the biannual enrichment team meetings when scheduled.

Once we receive your completed application process noted above, you will be contacted by a Rock Church leadership member.
Approval Process after requirements are met:
- Verify Current Background Check
- Interview with Rock Church Chaplaincy Pastor
The Rock Community Chaplain ministry is a minimum two-year commitment that begins with a three-month trial (probation) period.
Chaplains are encouraged to continue advancing in their training and experience through Rock Church opportunities, actively serving in their church, and being involved in a church small group or equivalent. They must also attend the two-team meetings annually.
