Major Obstacles Overcome: God saved our marriage before I (Pat) had a personal relationship w/ Jesus. Liza & I have endured a very trying period in 2008 when I had an emotional affair and required the help of a Christian counselor. This counselor invited me to his church which led to me accepting Christ as my Savior. Since then, Liza & I have strived to pay it forward and help other couples who need hope & encouragement where it may be lacking or non-existent. We want to help marriages go from just thriving to surviving.
What Keeps Their Marriage Thriving:Â We consistently believe the best in each other rather than assuming the worst, we never think of or mention the D-word, we strive to out-love one another without keeping score, we go on as many date nights during the week, and we pray together every morning.

Major Obstacles Overcome: Learning to communicate effectively by learning to resolve conflict in healthy ways. Job loss and career change. We both lost parents. Supporting one another through personal struggles related to toxic relationships at work, friendships and family.
What Keeps Their Marriage Thriving: After Christina's retirement we have had more time together to focus on God. We go to brunch and debrief the Sunday service for clarity and what we learned to incorporate into our daily lives. We also have weekly date nights where we have open communication. We don't leave home instead we talk about life; family, children, grandchildren, relationships, finances, work, etc. We also discuss our relationship with God and each other and we sit face to face to have these discussions without interruptions. We spend quality time at the gym, eating and laughing.

Major Obstacles Overcome: We know firsthand that marriage isn’t always easy. As a blended family and second marriage for both of us, we’ve walked through addiction recovery, grief, financial struggles, infertility, family challenges, and the healing that comes from past hurts. What we’ve learned is that God’s grace is greater than our past, His faithfulness is unwavering, and no situation is beyond His ability to redeem. Those experiences now allow us to encourage couples with both biblical truth and real-life understanding.
